Welcome to COAST South Tyneside, a project to increase awareness of the wildlife of South Tyneside’s coastline and how we can help it to thrive.

South Tyneside’s coastline has a variety of habitats that provide vital homes and food to a variety of species, including internationally important numbers of wading birds. The importance of our coastline for nature is recognised through national and international conservation designations. Our impacts upon the habitats and the animals that live there is not always obvious, therefore COAST South Tyneside aims to raise awareness of the challenges our wildlife faces and how each one of us, by making small changes, can help nature to thrive.

How you can help

South Tyneside’s stunning coastline provides a great space to explore and enjoy, but our wildlife is in decline. By following the COAST Code below, you can enjoy the coastline whilst giving our wildlife the space they need to thrive!
